Brides Gone Wild! Dispute between Two Online Dating Sites Finds Itself in Federal Court

Websites offering a mail-order bride service, via online dating, are arguing in Federal Court

Anastasia International has accused EM Online Ltd. dba Elena’s Models with trademark infractions, false advertising, tortious interference and unjust competition, in the New York City Federal Court. Anastasia is an American based online dating company, whilst EM Online is an Australian based internet dating webpage. Both of them, however, concentrate on the American market. In turn, one could find out how the two are fighting for the same market.

“The Complaintant provides an online dating service which, for a small fee, matches males in America with females located in the Russian Federation and Ukraine. By far the most highly targeted part of the U,S is New York”, states the report. “Elena’s Models can be described as a lead opponent of Anastasia. It operates the elenasmodels.com web site and competes for the exact same potential customers as Anastasia in the United States. As a result of our analysis, it is now clear that ‘anastasiadatefraud’ and ‘ruadventures.com’ are both websites created by Elena’s Models to place a stain on Anastasia’s popularity . The websites’ owners can’t be recognized because of a proxy service being employed, which makes things suspicious to say the least. To make matters much more distrustful, these websites redirect whoever is viewing them to elenasmodels.com. These websites try to put Anastasia in a bad light by accusing the site of fraud to its customers, due to the site “being a scam”, and then recommends Elena’s Models as an alternative. “The anastasiadatefraud.com website proposes to show extracts from e-mails authored by women with user profiles on Anastasiadate.com. The e-mail extracts all have a typical message – ladies featured on Anastasiadate.com aren’t truly looking for a relationship with men from the United States, but rather are contract workers paid to correspond with Anastasia customers and break their hearts. These claims are false, and also the emails from the women appear to be fake. Anastasiadate goes to great length to make sure that the men.”

Online Dating

Elena’s Models knows the claims it makes on anastasiadatefraud are not true, and had the emails written particularly to harm Anastasia’s business, the complaint states. Quite unjustly, Elena’s Models is using ruadventures.com to fend off any competition so that it can prosper at their expense. “The ruadventures.com website, whilst pretending to be an independently produced forum for the exchange of information about international dating services, in reality is only selecting and posting negative details about Elena’s Models’ competitors (including Anastasia) and positive reviews about Elena’s Models service. Almost nothing about Anastasiadate is valid on this website, since it is very clear that the details have been meddled with to shed a negative light on Anastasiadate,” as is written on the complaint.

Anastasia claims that ruadventures.com infringes on its copyrighted logo to swipe potential customers. “Using metatags utilizing the Anastasiadate logos, defend[ant] has situated the two sites so they appear at or near the top of any web search for Anastasiadate,” according to the complaint. Anastasiadate are looking for a cease and desist charge for the actions of EM Online. Anastasia are being defended by Richard C. Yeskoo.

Anastasiadate.com, checked Thursday, offers American males the “a number of the planet’s most beautiful women!” “Not any other global dating web page comes close,” the internet site claims. The site describes itself as “the easiest way to find real women online, with the best client protection available on a dating site.”

On the anastasiadatefraud.com site, also examined Thursday, an anonymous writer claims to tell readers “only the facts” about Anastasia date. According to him, Anastasiadate hires girls who are paid to talk to the clients. A female form the Ukraine told him this information, and that’s why he’s now exposing it to everyone. He states the third-party agencies offer women “high revenue and flexible schedule” to email and chat with American men. The requirements required for this sort of “job” are: to be over 18 years and to be literate in English and in computers.

According to the same writer, the woman recommended Elena’s Models since, according to her, was a much more professional site.
